Recap: University of Chicago Invitational

Two Moot Court teams at UCF competed at the University of Chicago’s Moot Court Invitational this past weekend (October 15-16). Both teams did fantastic, they both made it to past the semifinals round and had to fight a hard battle against one another in the finals, with partners Jan Soto and Ariana Landi securing the win!

Partners Caitlin Moore and Jake West breezed through the first day of competition, moving forward to the second day, where they both made it to past the semifinals round and had to go head-to-head against their own teammates in the final round. Congrats to Vice-President Moore for earning 5th Best Speaker and congrats to first-time Mootie West for earning 8th Best Speaker at the Invitational! Moore and West secured 2nd place at the University of Chicago’s Moot Court Invitational.

Partners Jan Soto and Ariana Landi also secured themselves a spot for day two of competition, and after a tough second day of knock-out rounds, President Soto and first-time Mootie Landi earned themselves 1st place at the Invitational! A great way to kick of the season indeed. President Soto also earned 3rd Best Speaker, with his partner Landi earning herself Best Speaker at the Invitational!

A big thank you to the University of Chicago for hosting this wonderful Invitational. This was an amazing opportunity for both the new Mooties and the Returners to challenge themselves and receive the much-deserved recognition. The accomplishments of both teams over the weekend show how rewarding it can be to stay committed and to work hard towards your goals.

We look forward to the next invitational, the Yale Undergraduate Moot Court Invitational (October 29-30), where we will be sending three teams to go head-to-head with other teams across the nation, in hopes of securing another win.
